Blind Boy De Vita — Pampasciune

“Pampasciune” (a kind of hyacinth/onion) tells the story of Blind Boy De Vita’s father in an affectionate, fun way. Back in the 1970s, he set off to travel the world of his own free will – a first for his family, which had lived modestly on the Salento peninsula in southern Italy for the past 400 years and only left the country for work. His travels represented a break with family tradition and describe the career of a self-made man who achieved great things despite a simple background and few resources. The essence of the track: with persistence and hard work, but also a touch of naivety, ambitions as well as dreams can become reality. The song features a striking chordal bass line and, for the first time, the use of a classical drum kit, which creates a driving groove. This is accompanied by slide guitar drones, psychedelic licks and of course Blind Boy De Vita’s almost shamanic bass-baritone voice.
