Billie Bird — La lumière sans fin des étés

With « La lumière sans fin des étés », Billie Bird confirms, once again, the full extent of her talent.

Thus, it is the warm and reassuring light of love that rises from this pioneering album, the very light that the author’s childhood, marked by life in foster care, undoubtedly lacked. For Billie Bird, family, friendship, and romantic bonds are all one, powerful, and comforting.

Across the eight tracks imbued with her heritage—that of exile and resilience, but also and especially of her inner circle, of what she tenderly calls "the community," to those dearest to her she gives voice to the values that drive her and that she defends.

She wrote and composed this new indie folk-pop album, entirely analog, in her Lausanne studio and co-produced it in Zurich alongside drummer and multi-instrumentist, Domi Chansorn.

With gentle wit, "L'amour ça fait mal" ("Love Hurts") playfully subverts one of pop music's oldest clichés. Driven by an instantly memorable chorus, vivid everyday imagery ("We put our hearts in the microwave for two minutes thirty, just enough to fall again") and razor-sharp songwriting, Billie Bird delivers a pop song of remarkable immediacy. Beneath its apparent lightness lies a deeper question: does love really have to hurt?
