Monumental — When I Liked Myself Just a Little Too Much
Monumental Announce Debut Album: “When I Liked Myself Just a Little Too Much”
Some titles you whisper.
Some you wear like a crown.
Monumental’s debut album „When I Liked Myself Just a Little Too Much“ is both. A self-referential shrug and a full-hearted confession. An anthem to the artist’s inner conflict—the high of creation and the quiet guilt that follows. It’s a record born from contradiction and made to be lived with, sat beside, danced to, and cried over.
Across nine tracks—some loud, some loose, some longing—Monumental builds a body of work that feels more like a conversation than a statement. There’s the drama of „Tongue Tied“, all fragile vocals and explosive drums. The restless motion of „Runner“. The delicate joy of „Paradise“, with its beat-driven build toward euphoria. And of course, the aching intimacy of „All About You“, a closing track that lands somewhere between a farewell and a rallying cry.
At the centre of it all: „Radio Silence“, the first song that broke the years-long quiet. A song that reopens the door and lets the light back in—tenderly, tentatively, and without pretending to have all the answers.
It’s not a concept album. But if it were, the concept might be:
What if the worst parts of yourself were still worthy of song?
What if doubt had a dancefloor?
What if we all felt the same things, just at different volumes?
From the playful self-loathing of „Greater Things“ (featuring the line that gives the album its name), to the trumpet-fuelled, existential grin of „Loud“, Monumental prove that catharsis doesn’t always come in minor chords. „When We Leave“ takes its moment to be a little grumpy—because even in our most hopeful states, bad days exist. And „Interlude“, soft and childlike, opens a door to something quieter: a breath, a memory, a new beginning.
The record will be released digitally and on limited-edition vinyl, crafted with obsessive attention to design and detail. Partnering with some of the world’s most daring print artists, the physical album is more than a keepsake—it’s a tactile, visual, sonic experience. A ceremony of listening.
This is music for the overthinkers. The under-sleepers. The people who feel too much and dance anyway.
This is „When I Liked Myself Just a Little Too Much“.
It’s out this August.
